Sudha Singh meets Sonia Gandhi

Rae Bareilly (UP): Gold medalist of the women`s 3000 metre steeplechase in the Asian Games, Guangzhou, Sudha Singh expressed her joy after meeting the Congress President Sonia Gandhi here. "Soniaji not only congratulated me and conveyed her best wishes but also assured me to provide a house. She also promised to build a stadium in Rae Bareilly so that sportspersons here do not have to rush to other places to practice," said Sudha. ”She (Sonia Gandhi) also asked me about my next target and I told her that I am vying for the world championship and Olympics," an elated Sudha told the reporters after her meeting with the Congress chief, along with her family. When asked about Gandhi`s assurance of a stadium, Sudha said that there is a lot of talent in the rural areas and it would be easy to groom them once proper infrastructure is put in place. PTI
