Ritwik, Joshna top seeds for Maha State Open Squash tourney

Ace racqueters Ritwik Bhhattacharya and Joshna Chinappa have been named top seeds for the 35th Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship, scheduled to be held here from October 10-16.

Mumbai: Ace racqueters Ritwik Bhhattacharya and Joshna Chinappa have been named top seeds for the 35th Bombay Gymkhana-HSBC Maharashtra State Open Squash Championship, scheduled to be held here from October 10-16.
While Joshna will battle it out with second seed Dipika Pallikal for top honours, Ritwik will face challenge from the likes of Sandeep Jangra, Gaurav Nandrajog, and former national champion Manish Chotrani, it was announced at a press conference here on Wednesday.Malaysians Choong Kam Hing, seeded fourth in men`s singles, and Pushppa Devi, seeded third in the women`s draw, will provide international flavour to the over six lakh prize money tournament, organisers said. The men`s winner purse is likely to be in excess of Rs 1,40,000, the women`s champion will get richer by Rs 55,000, they said.The other categories included in the tournament are: boys and girls under-19, under-17, under-15, under-13, under-11, Mixed under-9, over-35, over-45, over-55 and professionals, they added.
