If there is one country in the world that is growing in leaps and bounds, in all departments, is China. In respect to its space technology it has achieved great proportions. From their debut in space in 2003 to their spacewalk this year China has come a long way in space explorations. On 25th September 2008, China launched Shenzhou-VII successfully from the Jiuquan satellite Launch Centre.

In 2003 China joined the league of elite nations when it for the first time sent astronauts in space. Till then only US and Russia had managed to achieve this feat. In 2005, it again sent two more people in space on a five day mission. But this time they have sent three people to space and have successfully managed a spacewalk, a rare achievement. On 27th September 2008, Zhai Zhigang became the first Chinese astronaut to spacewalk for about 20 minutes. The mission was slated for a total of three days, and was successfully accomplished hurling China into the biggies of space science.
