The wonder shuttler who created history by becoming the first Indian woman to reach the singles quarter-finals of the Olympics, Saina Nehwal has all her smashes ready for the badminton world. Apart from being the first one to win the World Junior Badminton Championships, she holds the distinction of being the highest ranked Indian in the Badminton circuit.
The reigning Under-19 national champion has won the Asian Satellite Badminton tournament (India Chapter) not once but twice and the feat has put her in yet another first.
She became the first Indian Woman shuttler to win a 4-star tournament in 2006 in the form of the Phillipines Open, she took her flight against all odds as she won against mighty competition despite being seeded 86th for the tourney. She has continued with her good run ever since and even finished as runners up at the BWF World Junior Championships.
With the world to be conquered with her zeal and unmatched talent, she will definitly set the shuttle flying high for our country in the coming years. |
