One of the most awaited pilgrimages in India – Char Dham Yatra – commences this year on April 28. Char Dham mean four divine places and the regions include – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Hindu pilgrims visit these places to attain salvation. The Char Dham Yatra considered as one of the most auspicious pilgrimages.

This Yatra is conducted annually during summers and concludes during October/November.

The Yatra to –

Yamunotri commences on 28 April.

Gangotri on 28 April at 11.30 AM.

Kedarnath on 3 May at 8.50 AM.

Badrinath on 6 May at 4.14 AM.

Over 2,50,000 pilgrims visit the Char Dham annually. The Yatra can be completed in 10-11 days depending upon an individual’s itinerary.

Yamunotri Dham

Located at an altitude of 3293 meters, Yamunotri, the original source of Yamuna is the first Dham to be covered. Devotees can witness the majestic beauty of this Dham and pay tribute to holy river Yamuna by worshipping her here.

Gangotri Dham

This is the main Dham and is very closely associated with the mighty Ganga river. The shrine is located at an altitude of 3100 meters and is considered to be one of the most pious sites.

Shri Kedarnath Dham

Situated at an altitude of 3586 meters, Kedarnath located in Rudraprayag in the Garhwal region in the state of Uttarakhand, the shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Shri Badrinath

Situated at an altitude of 3133 meters, Badrnath is located on the banks of the Alaknanda river. The shrine is sandwiched between the Nar and Naryana mountain ranges and offers a spectacle of sorts to the visitors.
