Updated on Tuesday, January 06, 2009, 00:00 IST
Guwahati, Jan 06: Continuing their crack down on those behind the New Year's Day serial blasts here that claimed five lives, police have so far arrested six persons including ULFA cadres.

Sanjib Talukdar, Imran Choudhury, Hemanta Phukan, Ravinder Singh, Tarun Kalita and Ganesh Kumar have been arrested for their role in the blasts that also injured 50.

Some of them are ULFA cadres, while the rest are linkmen of the banned group, police said.

DIG (Central-Western Range) G P Singh claimed Talukdar had supplied explosives to another prime accused named Pranjal Deka, who used them for triggering the three blasts here on January 1.

Talukdar told reporters outside the CJM court that he had been acting as a carrier for ULFA for the past six months and had handed over the explosives to Deka at Adabari bus depot here.

He was arrested from Rangiya near here on Saturday and remanded in seven days of police custody by Kamrup chief judicial magistrate yesterday.

Police had released Deka's photograph as prime suspect a day after the blast and a massive manhunt has been launched to nab him.
