Shillong, Nov 28: A large cache of explosives was recovered by Meghalaya Police in Jaintia Hills district on Friday.

In a major haul, altogether 243 pieces of 'NEOGEL 90' explosive substances, 1832 detonators, wires and one stick of superdyne, used in mines and quarries, were found during the raid in the Ladrymbai area, SP M K Singh told reporters.

One person was arrested in the raid that was conducted on tip-offs from police in neighbouring Assam's Badarpur area.

Police suspect the substances were brought from license holders who use those powerful explosives in mines and quarries in the area.
