New Delhi: Australia's tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt waved goodbye to the game on Thursday in the ongoing Australian Open.

The veteran two-time Grand Slam champion has been a source of inspiration for many players in the tennis fraternity and has also been a hero for the fans. Hewitt lost to Spaniard David Ferrer on Thursday in the 2nd round of men's singles event.

An emotional Hewitt stated that he is fortunate to finish here at home and is fortunate to have a career expanding 20 years.

The34-year-old also added that he left nothing in the locker room and it is something he can be proud of.

Spaniard David Ferrer paid his tribute to Hewitt and said the night belonged to the Australian.
