Badminton Association of India President VK Verma said the game`s world body is satisfied with the security at the ongoing Indian Open Grand Prix and that there would not be any problem hosting the World Championship.

Hyderabad, March 27: Badminton Association of India President VK Verma said the game`s world body is satisfied with the security and other arrangements at the ongoing Indian Open Grand Prix and that there would not be any problem hosting the World Championship in August."Australia based security company `Intelligence Risk` has given a positive report to the BWF and they are happy with the arrangement and facilities. I have also spoken to some foreign players like Taufik Hidayat and they are also happy with the arrangements, so there are no issues," Verma said.
Verma, who is also vice-president of the world badminton federation (BWF), said India is likely to host its first badminton Super Series in 2011 and efforts are on to promote the Indian Open Grand Prix to a Super Series event. "We are doing enough spadework for promoting the ongoing Indian Open from a Grand Prix Gold event to Super Series and most likely India will also host its first Super Series by 2011," Verma said. "Also the Syed Modi Grand Prix will be organised every year starting from December this year," he added. Asked about the lack of sponsorship, Verma said, "We didn`t incur any loss while organising the Indian Open and we have also secured enough money to host the World Championship, so sponsorship won`t be a problem." Verma also said India would be hosting the Asian Championship in April-May, 2010, in New Delhi as a curtain raiser to the Commonwealth Games. Bureau Report
