New Delhi, Dec 11: Charity for an NGO marked Viswanathan Anand`s 39th birthday as the World Champion started his day with a noble cause.Anand, who usually plays and wins games on his birthday, is enjoying a well-deserved vacation at his home in Chennai after the gruelling World Championship match against Vladimir Kramnik of Russia in Bonn, Germany.
"He is associated with an NGO Vidyasagar which works for children with cerebral palsy. They had a programme to celebrate his birthday so he went to attend that in the morning," Anand`s wife and manager Aruna told reporters. "I am preparing lunch of his choice and I have also baked a chocolate cake for him. Otherwise, we are having only a normal day," she said. Aruna disclosed that she gifted Anand a holiday package to Bandhavgarh Tiger Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh last week -- obviously a perfect thing for someone who is interested in wildlife. While Anand went for a siesta to be fresh for a felicitation ceremony organised by the All India Chess Federation in the evening, a genial Aruna kept herself busy attending to telecallers. The couple would be attending a felicitation ceremony where the Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will present the world champion chess ace a diamond ring, worth Rs 5 lakh, in the presence of the entire cricket team, which is in the city to play the first Test against England. "In the evening, we will be going to the function where cricket team will felicitate Anand," she said before rushing back to her cooking ways. Bureau Report
