I-League: Mohun Bagan AC coach Sanjoy Sen terms game against Sporting Clube de Goa as worst performance of season

New Delhi: Defending I-League champions Mohun Bagan AC coach Sanjoy Sen termed the 1-1 draw against Sporting Clube de Goa on Tuesday as their worst performance of the season.

Bagan are leading the I-League proceedings this season too, but dropped two crucial points which can allow Bengaluru FC to close the gap atop.

According to a report in Goal.com, Sen feels that this was the poorest game from his side and it wan an encounter that Bagan could have won.

"I'm not happy. If you look at all of the matches so far, I think this is the poorest game we played. But we still could've won the game. Anyway, one point is also important. at this stage. It's lucky we didn't lose as well, as Odafa Okolie had two very good chances but was blocked very well by the keeper (Debjit Majumder) and the defenders. I'm sure the point we earned here will also help us to achieve our goal," said Sen.

When asked about the points picked from two games in Goa, the Bagan coach went on to add that his side has done well this season in away games as compared to the the last decade.

"If you look at the performance of the Mohun Bagan team for the last 10 years, how many points have we won away from home? It's not just this, last season we won only eleven points on the road, while we have already won 10 points from earlier games. Now in Goa, we have earned four more. We have to play another two matches away from home and it is possible to get six points as well. So, it's very good."

Bagan were held to a 1-1 draw by the hosts in Goa despite going ahead in the 28th minute through Brandon Fernandes. But Sporting drew on level terms after the break to snatch two points from the league leaders.

Both sides missed crucial opportunities in a lively encounter.
