Magical Jamie Vardy breaks Ruud van Nistelrooy's EPL scoring record

New Delhi: Leicester City's wonder striker Jamie Vardy on Saturday became the first player to score for the 11th consecutive game in English Premier League.

The 28-year-old from Sheffield put Claudio Ranieri's side ahead 24th minute at the King Power Stadium against Manchester United with a clinical right-footed finish.

Last week, the England international equalled the record of scoring in 10 successive matches held by former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Thanks to his scoring prowess, the Foxes have created a ripple in English football and are challenging for the title, an unthinkable thing before the start of the 2015-16 season.

He has 14 goals so far, and is the leading scorer in the English top flight.

However, German world cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger scored in the first-half stoppage time to put United back in contention.

The winner of the match will go top of the table, ahead of City.
