Mohammad Amir fined 150% of match fee for on-field verbal spat in domestic match

Karachi: Disgraced Pakistan seamer Mohammad Amir, who is fighting his way back into the international team, has been fined 150 per cent of his match fee after a row with another former international Faisal Iqbal, during a domestic match.

According to a report in The Express Tribune, Amir repeatedly took digs at the PIA batsmen, especially at Faisal, taunting the latter for being allegedly backed by his legendary uncle Javed Miandad.

The disciplinary breach took place during Sui Southern Gas Corporation's match against Pakistan International Airlines in a qualifying fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in Faisalabad on Thursday.

“Amir has been fined 150% match fee for two incidents of misbehaviour against PIA,” a Pakistan Cricket Board official confirmed to The Express Tribune.

“First he was fined 50% of his match-fee for misbehaving and then was slapped with a 100% match-fee ban after a spat with Faisal, who has been warned.”

Tainter trio of Pakistani cricket comprising Amir, Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, have been allowed by the International Cricket Council to return to competitive cricket after serving out their respective bans following conviction in a spot-fixing incident in 2010.

In another incident from a different tie, Mohammad Irfan, playing for Khan Research Laboratory, was fined 50% of his match fee for an altercation with the umpire during a match against State Bank of Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
