Surat Diamond Bourse: All You Need To Know About World's Largest Office Building- In Pics

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse on Sunday, establishing it as the world's largest and modern hub for international diamond and jewellery business. The official statement from the Prime Minister's Office highlighted that the Surat Diamond Bourse is set to become a global center for trading both rough and polished diamonds, along with jewellery.

Built on 66 lakh square feet at DREAM (Diamond Research and Mercantile) City, an approximately 700-acre greenfield development intended as a township.

The largest office building globally, The Pentagon in the United States, is smaller than the bourse, according to a document by Delhi-based Morphogenesis, the company that developed it.

The Surat Diamond Bourse can accommodate over 4,200 workplaces, with sizes ranging from 300 to 7,5000 square feet per office. Nine towers, each with 15 storeys above ground, make up the bourse.

The bourse will have access to all diamond-related operations and infrastructure, including lab-grown diamonds, the sale of polished and rough diamonds, equipment used in diamond manufacture, software for diamond planning, and diamond certificate companies.

There will be about 27 retail jewellery stores opened, and SDB has more than 4,000 CCTV cameras installed.
