Kalmadi aide granted bail by Delhi HC

Delhi High Court granted bail to CWG treasurer Jayachandran due to lack of evidence.

New Delhi: The Delhi high Court granted bail to Commonwealth Games 2010 treasurer Jayachandran due to lack of evidence, giving a shot in the arm to CWG OC chief Suresh Kalmadi.
The hearing on the bail plea of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (OC) official M Jayachandran in the Queen’s Baton Relay scam was set for today after it was postponed on Monday. Justice Hima Kohli had adjourned the matter after the argument was concluded by defence counsel RK Handoo.Jayachandran, joint director (finance) in the OC, was arrested on Nov 21, 2010 for making questionable payments to Indian-owned London-based private firm AM Car and Van Hire Limited during the Queen’s Baton Relay function in London.The high court had earlier on Friday, granted bail to another CWG official TS Darbari as the Central Bureau of Investigation failed to file a charge sheet against him within the stipulated 60 days of his arrest.
