Kolkata: Subair Muritala Ali continued his fine run as he struck twice in Mohun Bagan`s 4-0 win over Kalighat Milan Sangha in a Calcutta Football League Premier Division match here on Saturday.
The Nigerian, who scored a hat-trick in Mohun Bagan`s previous match against Mohammedan AC, fired in the 38th and 70th minutes before Souvik Chakraborty (18th) and Jose Ramirez Barreto (30th) gave the green-and-maroon brigade a 2-0 lead.
Playing without their star forward Edeh Chidi, Mohun Bagan never seemed to be facing any trouble with Muritala combining well with Barreto as Souvik was seen as the role of an attacking medio.
Souvik used the opportunity well when he found himself unmarked and headed it home to give Mohun Bagan the lead.
But it was man of the match Muritala, who impressed the most and looked to score every time he took the possession.
In a 28th minute move, Muritala was fouled just outside the box to be awarded the freekick, which was brilliantly converted by Barreto.
Muritala opened his account after receiving the supply from Barreto as the Nigerian finished it brilliantly.
Down 0-3 at half-time, Kalighat looked completely out of sorts as they conceded one more through a penalty.
Muritala was pushed from behind inside the Kalighat box to be awarded the penalty in Mohun Bagan`s favour as the Nigerian converted it for his second goal.
Mohun Bagan now have 22 points from nine matches, behind leaders East Bengal (33 points from 11 matches) and second-placed Aryan Club (24 points from 10 matches).
