The 32nd All India Governor?s Gold Cup Football Tournament began here on Thursday

Gangtok : The 32nd All India Governor?s Gold Cup Football Tournament began here on Thursday.
As both the Governor and the Chief Minister could not be available for the formal inauguration of the same due to their pre-occupation, Roads and Bridges Minister Ran Bahadur Subba kicked off the tournament at the Paljor Stadium. The Camelia United Sikkim Sporting Club, founded by Indian football captain Bhaichung Bhutia, defeated the Royal Bhutan XI in the opening match by 1-0. The lone goal was scored by Sonam Paljor Bhutia in the 14th minute. Despite playing an aggressive game, the Bhutan team missed a number of chances. I-League teams ONGC Mumbai and Pune FC are participating in the tournament which also feature Lajong FC (Shillong) and Mohammedan Sporting (Kolkata). PTI
