Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalayas to begin from October 10

About 277 rallyists from across the country will be seen in action at the 12th edition of the Maruti Suzuki Raid-de-Himalaya motorsport event starting October 10.

Last year`s champion Major Amarinder Brar, in his Maruti Suzuki Gypsy, is likely to face a stiff challenge from five-time champion Suresh Rana. Amongst the bikers, all eyes will be on Ashish Saurabh Moudghil, who has been a regular since 2006.
The motorsport enthusiasts will compete across three categories: X-treme 4-wheelers (43 teams), X-treme 2-wheelers (51 teams) (both for professional motorsport enthusiasts), and 70 enthusiast teams in the Adventure Trial category for amateurs. The oldest participant in the four-wheeler section this year is 60-year-old Harvijay Singh Bahia, whereas the youngest participant is Apurva Kaushik, 20 years. This include last edition`s winner of Coup De Dame Trophy Chander Suta Dogra and Pragya Singh who shall be assisting her as a navigator. Other female rallyists are Suchi Thakur from Dharamshala and Revati from Delhi. Raid-de-Himalaya is India`s only event to be listed in the coveted FIM`s (Federation Internationale Motorcyclisme) annual calendar and draws attention from well known motorsport enthusiasts across the globe.
