Top Indian drivers to compete in Formula Swift, Rolon classes

Cream of Indian racing drivers will compete in Formula Swift and Formula Rolon categories and Volkswagen Polo Cars and Super Saloon events in the fourth round of 13th JK Tyre National Racing Championship at Sriperumbudur.

Chennai: Cream of Indian racing drivers will compete for top honours in Formula Swift and Formula Rolon categories and Volkswagen Polo Cars and Super Saloon events in the fourth round of 13th JK Tyre National Racing Championship at Sriperumbudur near here on Friday and on Sunday.
This is the first time Volkswagen Polo cars would run in this city, considered the automobile hub of India.The earlier three rounds were held in Pune (one event) and Coimbatore (two events) with up coming drivers aged 20 competing. Over the years, the championship has scaled greater heights with the best in technology, hospitality and management. Introduction of VW Polo Cup in this edition has given it an international flavor. In Polo Cup,Sailesh has tallied 185 points in three rounds (six races). Vishnu Prasad and Delhi’s Karthik Shankar have aggregated 163 and 146 points respectively. The Top two teams-Wallace Sports and TVS Girling Racing have been prominent in podium finishes in Formula Swift. The team`s Ajay Kini has 35 points while TVS Girling’s Ameya Walavalkar, who has won many karting championships in the country, is in third spot with 33 points. Wallace Sports (82 pts) enjoys a three point edge over TVS Girling (79 pts) for the team championship, followed by Mars Racing with 24 points. In Formula Rolon,20-year-old Chennai lad Saran Vikram has put in strong performances to win both races to lead the fray with 20 points. Last edition`s overall runner-up Saran Vikram has shown steady improvement since participating in Volkswagen Masters in Germany last year. But he has to ward off challenge from second placed Delhi’s Arosh Hataria of Meco Racing. Sarosh has rich experience and with 18 points, has given stiff competition to Saran in earlier races. Two other young aspirants, 16-year-old G Vikas Anand and Vishnu Prasad, have totalled 12 points each to be joint third. For Team Championship honours, Amaron Pro Racing has a slight edge on points with 28 against Meco’s 27 and Mars Racing’s 20 points. In the Super Saloons class Sailesh Bolisetti, an engineer by profession, has already emerged as someone with the talent to graduate to higher levels. Sailesh, with 48 points is followed by Performance Racings G Siddharth Kishore (39) and veteran Coimbatore driver of Prime Racing, Vidya Prakash (31 pts) in second and third places. PTI
