Kolkata: Defending champions Mohun Bagan came back to winning ways in style thrashing Kalighat MS 4-1 after
being one goal down in a Calcutta Football League Premier
Division match at their home ground here on Wednesday. Kalighat MS drew first blood through Bapi Das in the 43rd minute. Riding on Manish Mathani`s equaliser in the 54th minute, Mohun Bagan fought back with a bang with Edeh Chidi`s brace (68th and 86th) and Muritala Ali`s strike in the 78th minute. Having lost to Aryan in their last match, Mohun Bagan started out on a cautious note and the pressure was clearly visible with Kalighat taking the lead in the first-half. A surging Das fired in the lead after Bagan custodian Sangram Mukherjee failed to collect the ball as the home defence came a cropper. Mathani brought in the equaliser from a Snehashish Chakraborty corner, an effort that earned him the Man of the match award. Chidi helped Bagan snatch the lead, while Muritala added one more to give the hosts a commanding 3-1 lead. Four minutes before the final whistle, Chidi fired in his second to complete the rout. Mohun Bagan now have six points from two wins and one loss, while Kalighat remained on eight points from six matches. PTI
