Saran Vikram, Vidyaprakash secure double wins

Chennai-driver Saran Vikram and local veteran D Vidyaprakash secured double title wins in Formula LGB Rolon and Super Saloons section respectively in the third round of 13th JK TYRE National Racing Championship here on Sunday.

In the second race of Formula Swift category, S Narendran of TVS Girling was declared a winner but later disqualified and the order of placing were changed. In the modified result sheet, Stewards for the Event said “Narendran excluded on technical grounds.” As per the modified results, Ajay Kini of Wallace Sports was adjudged winner and his team-mate Goutham Parekh and Akhil Devarag of TVS Girling placed second and third respectively. Timings of the podium winners recorded in the result sheet were Ajay Kini (18:34.434 secs), Goutham Parekh (18:37.880 secs) and Akhil Devarag (18:41.246 secs). Ajay Kini leads the points table with 45 after three rounds. Goutham Parekh (35 pts) and Ameya Walavalkar (33 pts) are in second and third spots respectrively.Stewards, after holding an inquiry and viewing of video and photographs of an incident which occurred during the Super Saloon event second race, decided to exclude Prime Racing’s C Rajaram, who had finished second in the race. G Siddharth of Peformance Racing was declared runner-up to D Vidyaprakash and New Delhi’s Vir Raina, third.The Super Saloon race created excitement for the local fans as their hero Vidyaprakash, scorched the track. Vidyaprakash clocked 18 min 11.755 seconds,while G Siddharth Kishore (18:41.002 secs) and Vir Raina of Chettinad Sporting (18:50.571 secs) were declared second and third respectively. Vidyaprakash had won the first race yesterday also. Vizag’s Sailesh Bolisetti (RAD Racing) suffered a jolt as he was involved in a contact with Rajaram in Corner-One and went out of the track but he continues to remain Championship leader with 48 points, followed by Siddharth Kishore (37) and Vidya Prakash (31). In the Formula Rolon event, most experienced Sarosh Hataria of Meco Motor Sports dropped out of the race in the second lap. However, Saran Vikram, who won the first race yesterday, kept up the momentum to win yet another title victory with a clear ten seconds margin. Saran Vikram took first spot with 17 mins 50.875 seconds and Kolhapur’s Mandody(18:03.558 secs) and Vishnu Prasad (18:04.359 secs) second and third. At the end of the third round, Saran Vikram is leading the points table with a tally of 20 points, while Hataria (18 pts) and Vishnu Prasad (17 pts) are behind Saran Vikram. PTI
