Bengal thrash Uttarakhand 5-0 to enter final

West Bengal drubbed Uttarakhand 5-0 to set up a summit clash with Chandigarh in the 47th Junior National Football Championship for Dr B C Roy Trophy at Mohun Bagan ground.

The hosts once again excelled through their goal-machine T Lalnun Puia who scored two goals in their five-star win. Captain Prabir Das also continued with his good form scoring a goal, while Mithun Oraon and Avik Guha struck one each. Puia got his first goal in the eighth minute to give Bengal an early lead, while Das struck in the 39th minute. The Mohun Bagan Academy striker scored his second in the 41st minute as Bengal sat pretty with a 3-0 lead at the break. The goal rush continued for Bengal with Oraon striking in the 48th minute while Avik Guha scored from the spot in the 74th minute after the hosts were awarded a penalty when Harish Singh Karki of Uttarakhand brought down Surajit Das inside the box. Bengal will face Chandigarh in the final at the same venue on Sunday. PTI
