Chennai: World champion Viswanathan Anand was full of praise for his fellow Indians performing at the world level at different stages and advised them to enjoy their game to the fullest.
Anand, at a felicitation function organised by the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association today, said he is happy to know that so many participants from the country are performing at the big stage and excelling in their game.
Congratulating winners of Asian Junior Championships, he wished all the players luck and advised them to continue their hard work to achieve greater success in life ahead.
On the occassion, Anand also shared his memories of Asian Junior Championships.
Thanking his well wishers, Anand said, "without your support and blessings I could not have done better in Sofia in the recent World Championship."
Earlier, Anand was given a rousing reception by the participants of Junior Championships as well as a large number of fans gathered at the venue.
Sheikh Sultan Al-Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation and also the chief guest of the function and Ignatius Leong, General Secretary of World Federation (FIDE) graced the occasion and showered praises on the World Champion.
Leong spoke about the development of Chess in India. Praising the good work of Indian Chess Federation, he noted that apart from the achievements of Anand, India has produced many other talented players.
