India`s Satinder Sharma to supervise hockey WC

International umpire Satinder Sharma has been appointed by the FIH to supervise matches in the hockey World Cup to be held in Delhi from February 28 to March 13.

Chandigarh: International umpire Satinder Sharma has been appointed by the FIH to supervise matches in
the hockey World Cup to be held in Delhi from February 28 to March 13. Sharma said this will be his third consecutive world cup assignment, having already officiated in the previous two editions held at Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia and Monchengladbach, Germany in 2002 and 2006 respectively. Satinder, employed as an officer with the State Bank of India here, is the only Indian hockey umpire who was recently awarded the Golden Whistle by the FIH for having supervised more than 100 international matches in the Olympics, World Cup and Champions Trophy tournaments.
