New Delhi: The Indian Premier League’s third season seems to be in the news for all the wrong reasons. The latest in the series of controversies is the brewing confrontation between the organizers and broadcasters with the News Broadcasters Association deciding to boycott the glitzy event. IPL’s latest season kicks off on March 12 and continues till April 25. Talks between IPL and news channels ended without any result after the official broadcasters refused to consider any of the demands made by the NBA and stuck to their stand. The terms laid down by the IPL prove to be a hurdle in the way of various channels covering and analyzing the game, which normally happens in the case of cricket matches. In his tweet yesterday, IPL chairman Lalit Modi said, ‘‘News channels never had rights to broadcast IPL. Those are exclusively SET Max. You will see all matches on Set live...You can get regular news of all IPL related stories as they happen on IPLT20.com.’’
