Mukesh Kumar coasts to six-stroke victory, Manav runner-up

Kolkata: Veteran Mukesh Kumar signed off with
a steady two-under 68 to win the Aircel-PGTI Players
Championship golf tournament with a comprehensive six-shot
victory over Manav Jaini here on Friday.
The Mhow golfer totalled 12-under 268 for the tournament
to pocket the winner's cheque of Rs 6,46,600 and climbed to
the top of the Rolex Rankings (Order of Merit).
This was his ninth title on the Aircel-PGTI.
"I did not need to attack the pin today and played steady
golf throughout. The lead from round three proved to be
decisive. I made 16 regulations today and was pleased by the
fact that I did not make a single bogey on the last two days,"
said Mukesh, the winner of the highest number of titles on the
Aircel-PGTI.
"This win is very special for me because it came at my
first even this season and therefore gives me a great
launch-pad for this year," said the Aircel-PGTI Order of Merit
winner from 2007-08.

Manav Jaini finished second at six-under 274 and his
final round of 71 included two birdies and three bogeys.
"Unfortunately, I was up against Mukesh Kumar, one of the
most experienced golfers in India, who never lets an
opportunity slip when he is in control," Manav said.
Ashok Kumar, Om Prakash Chouhan and Anthony Choat were
tied third with 276, while Harmeet Kahlon, Vinod Kumar, Shiv
Prakash and Kolkata's Feroz Ali Mollah were a further stroke
behind in tied sixth.
