Local lad Aryan Goveas shocked top seed B R Nikshep of Karnataka in three sets to set up a title contest against unseeded Madhya Pradesh boy Yash Yadav in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament.

Mumbai: Local lad Aryan Goveas shocked top seed B R Nikshep of Karnataka in three sets to set up a title
contest against unseeded Madhya Pradesh boy Yash Yadav in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament at the D Y Patil Sports Association`s tennis courts in Nerul on Thursday. Third seeded Goveas trailed his opponent 1-4 in the deciding third set before clinching the match by winning five games in a row for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory in the boys under 12 semifinals. In the other semifinal, Yadav accounted for fifth seed Avilash Mishra of Orissa 6-3, 1-6, 6-4. The girls under-12 final will pit second seed Nandini Das of Maharashtra against third seed Y Pranjali of AP following the players` victories over Kamran Kaur and Vanshika Sawhney respectively. Following are the results (all semis): Boys under-14: Nikhil Kanan bt Dhir Gala 6-3, 6-2; Nikhil Passi bt Indra Patwardhan 6-1, 6-2. Boys under-12: Aryan Goveas bt B R Nikshep 6-3, 4-6, 6-4; Yash Yadav bt Avilash Mishra 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 Girls under-12: Nandini Das bt Vanshika Sawhney 6-2, 6-3; Y Pranjala bt Kamran Kaur 7-6 (3), 6-4.
