Dola, Jayanta to lead Indian archery team in SAF Games

Olympians Dola Banerjee and Jayanta Talukdar will spearhead India`s 10-member archery team in the 11th South Asian Games to be held in Dhaka from January 29-February 8.

Kolkata: Olympians Dola Banerjee and Jayanta Talukdar will spearhead India`s 10-member archery team in the
11th South Asian Games to be held in Dhaka from January 29-February 8. Besides Talukdar, other archers of the men`s squad anounced today are Rahul Banerjee, Mangal Singh Champia and Tarundeep Rai while Rimil Biriuly, Deepika Kumari and L Bombayla Devi complete the women`s team. Coaches Ravi Shankar and Purnima Mahato would accompany the contingent, an Archery Association of India statement said. Archery was first introduced at the 2006 SAF Games in Colombo, where the Indians had bagged all the four gold and silver medals. Meanwhile, a separate 16-member Indian team was also announced for the first Asian Grand Prix to be held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from February 5-12. India will be fielding its best archers in the compound section but a second string side in the recurve category as the best eight recurve archers will be busy at the SAF Games, the release stated.
