New Delhi: In a shocking shame to the nation on its 61st Republic Day, the official website of Commonwealth Games Federation was carrying a map of India with parts of Jammu & Kashmir and Gujarat as Pakistan territory.
The website is owned and operated by the Commonwealth Games Federation. CGF is the organisation that is responsible for the direction and control of the Commonwealth Games all around the world. Such a mistake reflects gravely on what the international body thinks of one of India’s most sensitive issues.
In an exclusive interview with Zeenews, Indian Boxing Federation president said that it was a matter of grave concern and the government should step-in to punish the guilty for playing with the emotions of a billion strong patriots.
Lalit Bhanot, the secretary general of Delhi Games Organizing Committee told Zeenews that it was not something under their board but he would immediately ask the CWF to rectify the mistake as it was something not acceptable. This is not the first time that the Commonwealth Games have been in controversy, the country is already at loss of words about the construction of the basic infrastructure. This is despite the fact that athletes and cultural heads from the world would be taking an indelible account of India back home.IOA chief Suresh Kalamdi was not available for comments on the shameful incident when contacted by Zeenews and the Sports Minister MS Gill was enjoying the Republic Day parade, unaware of the incident at all.
