Kolkata: Army chief-designate Lt Gen VK Singh, now Eastern Command chief, today said it was his duty to recommend action against military secretary Lt Gen Avadesh Prakash in connection with the Sukhna land scam case.
"As Sukhna falls under the purview of the Eastern Command, it was my duty to send the recommendations. I have sent my recommendations and there the matter ends. Now it is
up to the government to decide the nature of actions to be taken," Singh said.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating an international photography exhibition at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations here, he said, when asked what will be his priority
after becoming the Army chief, "I am not the chief yet. I am still thinking. Let me first take over, then I will decide.
Time has not yet come to speak on this issue".
"Peace should be the priority not only for the Army, but for every person of the world. It is a very good thing and we should all strive for it," Singh said.
Eleven international and four Indian photographers including Nemai Ghosh and Goutam Ghosh from Kolkata, Vinayak Das and Gokul Krishnan from Bangalore contributed for the exhibition 'Spirit of Peace'.
The Dean of Westminster, Dr John Hall, and Mayor of Stuttgart, Germany, Dr Wolfgang Schuster, were present on the occasion.
