New Delhi: Singer-actor Salma Agha, who has
offered to hold a series of fund raising concerts for the
Indian hockey players, will tomorrow visit the Balewadi Sports
Complex where the World Cup preparatory camp for the national
team will resume.
The 48-year-old Salma will meet the players, who have
agreed to join practice after a five-day deadlock with the
federation ended in an amicable solution today, and will
present a hockey stick to each of them as a goodwill gesture.
Salma earlier said that she was planning to perform in
concerts across the country to raise money for the Indian
hockey players, who were boycotting the national camp to
protest non-payment of their dues.
She will also wish luck to the Indian players for the
forthcoming FIH World Cup to be held here from February
28-March 13.
Earlier, the biggest crisis to hit Indian hockey was
today resolved after a compromise deal was worked out between
the game`s administrators and the striking players who have
been promised an immediate disbursement of Rs one crore.
