Notification for by-election to YSR's constituency issued

Hyderabad: Process for the by-election to Pulivendula Assembly constituency in Andhra Pradesh began with the issue of notification on Wednesday.
The seat fell vacant due to the death of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who represented the constituency.
State Chief Electoral Officer I V Subba Rao and Additional CEO Harpreet Singh held a meeting with representatives of political parties here today to explain them about the model code of conduct and the by-election process.
Congress MLC Sheik Hussain, TDP general secretary Byreddy Rajasekhara Reddy, CPM leader J Jayaram, BJP leader K Laxman and Rashtriya Janata Dal state president P Ananta Swamy Yadav attended the meeting.
TDP requested the Election Commission to permit polling agents from outside the constituency since they had difficulty in appointing local people.
"We will seek a clarification from the Election Commission of India on this and take a decision accordingly,? CEO Subba Rao told reporters later.
He said the Kadapa district Collector and Superintendent of Police have been directed to deploy additional police force at required places and use video cameras and closed-circuit cameras to record the poll process.

Pulivendula has 1.86 lakh voters as per the data compiled before the general elections in April this year.
"There may be a few thousand more or less voters now," the CEO said.
Nominations for the by-election would be accepted till December 2 and the last date for withdrawal is December 5.
Polling would be held on December 19, while the counting of votes is scheduled on December 23.
