Indian Muslims are also Hindus,says RSS chief

Bangalore: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat late Sunday created a flutter at a public meeting here by claiming that Indian Muslims were originally Hindus and follow Hindu rituals.

"India is a country of Hindus. Even Muslims and Christians are also Hindus as they have inherited the Hindu culture. They too have roots in Hinduism," Bhagwat said while addressing about 15,000 RSS activists at a gathering in the sprawling Bangalore Palace grounds.

Substantiating his claim, Bhagwat said Muslims sing qawwalis because they inherited the trait of singing bhajans (hymns) from their forefathers. They also worship at mausoleums of great Muslim saints by offering chadar (quilt), which is equivalent to idol worshipping by Hindus.

"We are a country of unity in diversity. We are all one despite so many languages, different religions, cultures, traditions and food habits. All Indians derive strength from the spirit of Hindutva, which is a way of life - sanatana dharma," Bhagwat said in his hour-long speech in chaste Hindi.

actually he said that HINDU is not only a religion but also a culture like HARAPPA, SINDHU RIVEr,etc...so in that sense he is not point outing the HINDU religion, he said that every INDIAN have these culture, that is HINDU culture... -Sandeep Narayan - India

I want to tell to Mr.Mohan Bhagwat please read the QURAN and understand the meaning of Islam. Islam is peaceful religion. How can Muslim were Hindus. india is a secular country..this is what oyr constitution says..everyone has right to practice their own religion..ALL INDIANS ARE NOT HINDUS...THERE ARE SIKHS,..THERE ARE HINDUS..THERE ARE MUSLIMS,,CHRISTIANS,,BUDDIHSTS..AND MANY OTHER.. We should forget who was what in the past? And should concentrate on how to take our country to the path of success.There are poverty,unemployment,security problem,infrastructure problem etc....Better Mr Bhagwat should focus on those issues rather than remembering the past.Who were the Muslims fore fathers is of no use today.Now Muslims of India are Muslims by birth and as much patriot as Hindus &give them equal opportunities. -sharique - Sana'a

Point raised by Mr bhagwat must be well honored as All people living in India are originally hindu. others Religion originated due to numerous attack on Indian Soil by foreigniers. though we say we are from Different religion but Remember Akbar has already given Hindustan as the name of this ``Bharat`` Soil because he knew that all living to this place are hindustani. Therefore it was considered the place of Hindu in Moughals era. The conversion of religion is in itself a wrong concept. Christianity, Islam and Judaism are the religions in which conversion of a non believer into a believer is a big virtue. What about the flesh and the blood, more importantly the race? Where will that go? Are beliefs the only important thing? The race of the human being defines his core characteristics. These above mentioned religions are totally ignorant about the races of people. Hence we have a black muslim, yellow muslim, orange chriistian, brown jew. The conversion concept is inherently wrong, and it is just to increase the number of people to gain the dominance over the world. Hinduism has no such concepts, hinduism today is followed only in the countries where hinduism was born, where hindus were kings and rulers. The number of predominantly hindu countries is very small and we all know the number of christian and muslim countires. As far the jews are concerned they never had any country, they have always been nomads. -ashish - pune
