Chandigarh: Haryana government has made it mandatory for the recruiting agencies and recruiting agents of the state, who are facilitating sending job seekers out of India, to get themselves registered as recruiting agents under the Emigration Act, 1983.

Stating this here on Sunday, a spokesman of the Home Department said that the recruiting agencies and recruiting agents had also been advised to follow all the provisions of the Act, failing which they would be liable to have action taken against them.

He said that the job seekers desirous of going overseas for employment were also cautioned to be aware of the provisions of the Emigration Act, 1983 and use the services of the registered recruiting agencies for their own safety and security.

He said that the Emigration Act, 1983 regulates the terms and conditions of overseas employment and protects and safeguard the interests of Indian workers desirous of going abroad for employment.

Under the provisions of Act, a foreign employer could recruit any citizen of India for employment in any country either through registered recruiting agencies or directly only after obtaining a valid permit from the competent authority as defined in Section 15 (Chapter IV) of the Act.
