Madrid: Cristiano Ronaldo returned to training with the rest of the squad on Friday and sent a message to Real Madrid fans saying he would be back playing soon after an ankle injury that has kept him out of action for the club for almost two months.

"Thank you to all the Madrid fans for the support they have given me during my injury," Ronaldo wrote on the club's website. "I will be back soon."

Ronaldo has not been included in the squad for Saturday's match at home to Racing Santander (1900 GMT), and midfielders Lassana Diarra and Guti and striker Ruud van Nistelrooy are out injured.
