Zee Business best B-School survey: IIM-A still No 1

New Delhi: The Zee Business survey of best B-Schools in India has thrown up interesting results this year. While IIM -Ahmedabad retains its place at the top spot, followed by IIM-Bangalore and IIM-Calcutta, IIM-Lucknow has been left behind by both XLRI and IIPM in the overall rankings.

IIPM has gained in this year’s ranking, coming up from number 7 last year to the 5th position this year in the overall rankings.

Like last year, the top rankers in Industry interface and Placement have been the three IIMs - A, B and C - in that order. However, IIM - Calcutta improved its infrastructure and pushed back IIM - Bangalore this year. In Global exposure IIPM and FMS - Delhi ruled again this year. Second and third ranking IIM - Ahmedabad and Bangalore exchanged places.

The survey was done after interviewing faculty members from different B-schools, recruiters, students, and young professionals. They were asked to rate the schools over a range of parameters covering overall placements, global placements, international internships, global faculty, student exchange programs, industry interface, faculty – both in-house & visiting, course contents, research & publications and infrastructure.

Not only Zee Hindustan times has ranked IIPM as 9th best pvt b school this year...mail today and synovate too has ranked IIPM this year... ZEE. intresting to see new names in the rankings,atleast when we have only few seats available in IIMs.Why so much of discomfort about FORE IIPM ? i think they have scored heavily few parameters so they got ranks.Anyways we can see IIPM in other surveys coming this year and for past few years..ZEE doing good job I can think of few more options now. -rahul kapoor - delhi

i know people will always doubt iipm credentials only because they have an open door policy.IIPM doesnt believe in churning cream to get cream.And the cream from thespeacial institutes feel irritated seeing the rankings..how come those so called average students be compared to us? We are so special...ACTUALLY THIS IS THE ROT IN OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM...I had my mail jammed up with notifications from more than 1500 companies which visited our campus in 06-08 batch..A group like zee cannot be so stupid as to not see the facts and figures when they visit campuses.. -anand - delhi

Tushar - Think ateast once before you make any comment. Do not make stupid statements on an open forum. Undoubtly IIMA is the way best B School of India and from the past 7 years atleast, all of its students are very well placed and pls dont argue on this. Others - Pls dont be misguided by the list. The list is completely manipulated. Zee- Its a complete shame and disgrace at the your part to publish such a bogus and unaunthetic ranking. Institutes like IIPM, EMPI,Dalmiya,galgotia,amity and other advertisement based institues are in your Top 30 list when these institutes dont deserves to stand anywhere, and forget abt everything ICFAI being in Top 30 and NITIE being at 29 and no mention of the institutes like MDI, Great Lakes and Shailesh J Mehta can assure us well about the quality of your rankings. Anyways, a report on this would soon be reached to subash chandra`s office and I am sure an action would be taken on the concerned person soon. Mr. Tarun (referring to the very first comment on this thread), please get your facts right! IIM A remains no. 1 in India, infact it is now one of the top ranked schools in the world!. Your statement about 75% of the batch not getting placed and the average salary being 25,000 at IIM A is absolute rubbish!!! I am an IIM graduate myself and pity your ignorance... -Nikhil - Delhi

PPL great news to hear that IIM A retained its first place, but don`t you ppl think that why only IIMA gets the first place and others are not look for even . This year not more than 75% students at iima were been able to be placed and the avg package was 25000. So, don`t you think its time to re cheak our biased system and mentality. One other thing this year after 30 years of existence IIM`S conducted first online test which proved to be a failure. guys a management institute which can`t manage its online exams then what kind of management they will teach to its students. If IIM A under this situation is NO.1 THEN I BELEIVE THAT OTHERS ARE MORE THAN A CRAP... -TUSHAR - DELHI

These are absolutely biased rankings........based on one form sent to colleges filled by the clerks.......i was surprised to see mine college name in the list......inquiring about that gives me an idea how the process was conducted. No doubt no one trust Zee as a brand these days. -Prashant - Mumbai

I am not able to understand the basis of such rankings. IIPM and Amity competing with IIMs whereas colleges like NITIE and TAPMI have been ranked so low. Zee has lost its credibility. I would request the students not to go by these rankings at all. -Rahul - Bangalore

it is highly unfortunate that surveys are conducted and results are published without doing adequate research first. Zee should know that IIPM has been banned by the UGC for malpractices. The college cannot award a degree and is not recognized in NCR. Please get your facts right before you make any findings public. -Prachi Bansal - Delhi
