Zeenews Bureau Sydney: World number one and US tennis queen, Serena Williams has thrown her weight behind controversial tennis superstar Andre Agassi and claimed that one incident can’t define a career which is full with many more victories and entertainment.
Serena, who was in news for threatening ball girl, faces a likely ban from upcoming Australian Open.
"It's weird. I don't understand it, when I heard, I didn't know what to think and I still don't. But I don't believe it should define his career. A career is a whole timepiece, a whole period,” Serena was quoted by Sydney Morning Herald.
"That whole drugs thing freaks me out, I don't even know what crystal meth is. I've never seen it on the LA scene. Tennis is, for me, a pure sport. I get tested randomly all the time."
In a lengthy interview to SMH, Serena went on to thank her sister Venus for protecting her from drugs.
"I didn't do that drugs and wild life thing because of Venus. When I was younger, she was my protector, my bodyguard, my everything. She always looks out for me. She is such a good person. I couldn't have asked for a better older sister."
Off-late Agassi is in news for revealing to have taken crystal meth in 1997 and failing a drug test.
"I say that recently I drank accidentally from one of Slim's spiked sodas, unwittingly ingesting his drugs. I ask for understanding and leniency and hastily sign it: Sincerely,” Agassi wrote in his about to publish autobiography ‘Open’.
