Body of IAF official missing after Chenab copter crash recovered

Jammu: The body of a missing Indian Air Force
official was fished out from river Chenab, eight days after a
MI-17 helicopter, carrying 4 personnel, crashed into it in
Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said here on Sunday.
The decomposed body of the IAF official, whose identity
is yet to be ascertained, was fished out from river Chenab by
a joint search party of the Army, police, air force and Navy
in Trungal-Assar area of the district yesterday.
The body was airlifted here for identification and
completion of other formalities, they said.
The helicopter that crashed into the river on October 30,
was carrying four personnel -- Wing Commander Rajiv Garg,
Flight Lieutenant Y S Tomar, Warrant Officer K Singh and
Sargeant Deepak. Garg's body was recovered on the same day.

The authorities had launched a search operation to locate
the drowned chopper and fish out the remaining three bodies
and brought 17 Navy divers from the national capital to assist
the operation.
