Hyderabad: The ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh found itself in a muddle following resentment by aspirants who have been denied tickets for the civic polls in Hyderabad scheduled to be held on November 23.

Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee President D Nagender today quit his post following allegations of corruption in ticket distribution.

Expressing anguish over the allegations against him, Nagender, also state health minister, said he has submitted his resignation to state Congress president D Srinivas.

The Congress released its first list of candidates for 130 of the total wards last night.

Congress legislators from Hyderabad region A Rajender and B Raji Reddy have alleged that corruption has taken place in the distribution of tickets.

The legislators have reportedly complained to the party high command against Srinivas and other leaders.

Also, supporters of the aspirants gathered at the residence of Srinivas and raised slogans against him.

Some half-naked irate persons poured kerosene and attempted to set themselves on fire. Another Congress MLA P Shankar Rao was chased by the party workers as he came out of the residence of Srinivas and he had to leave the place in a police vehicle.
