Pregnant woman dies of swine flu in Coimbatore district

Coimbatore: A 22-year-old pregnant woman died
of swine flu on Thursday at the Government hospital, a top official
said here.
The woman, Saranya, a resident of Flower Market area in
the city, was admitted to the Hospital on November three and
test reports confirming H1N1 status was received yesterday
afternoon, District Collector P Umanath told a news agency.
The woman had earlier been admitted to a private hospital
and had come to the Government hospital at 'an advanced
stage,' Umanath said.

Though the doctors decided to operate and save the 32-week
old foetus, the woman's condition deteriorated suddenly, he
said. This was claimed to be the first swine flu death in the
district.
Shivaprakasam, RMO at the hospital, said the doctors
tried their best to save the patient.
