Nepal Maoists paralyse functioning of govt offices

Kathmandu: Work in government offices
remained paralysed across Nepal for the second consecutive day
today, as Maoists picketed offices and did not allow employees
to enter.
Thousands of Maoists picketed the Kathmandu District
Administration Office, Babarmahal, Lalitpur DA Office,
Manbhawan, and Bhaktapur DA Office and prevented government
staff from entering shouting anti-government slogans.
Similar protests were also organised in other
districts across the country. Maoists are building up momentum
for their November 10 rally when they have threatened a total
shutdown in Nepal.
The Maoists are protesting against President Ram Baran
Yadav's decision to overturn the sacking of former Army Chief
Rukmangad Katawal, which led to collapse of the Maoist
government.
Nepalese police and security personnel were out in
strength to prevent any violence and maintain law and order.
The protest remained peaceful and there were no
incidents of violence or clashes.
