Chautala resigns from Ellenabad Assembly constituency
Chandigarh: Opposition Indian National
Lok Dal (INLD) president Om Parkash Chautala on Wednesday resigned from Ellenabad Assembly constituency in Haryana.
Haryana Assembly Speaker H S Chatha has accepted
Chautala's resignation and declared the Ellenabad seat as
vacant, an Assembly spokesman said here.
Chautala had won from two constituencies of Uchanna
Kalan in Jind district and Ellenabad in his home district of
Sirsa.
He has preferred to remain an MLA Uchana Kalan which
he won by defeating former Finance Minister and senior
Congress leader Birendra Singh.
The Assembly Secretariat has requested the Election
Commission of India (ECI) to take steps to fill the Ellenabad
seat.
