12 people run over by train in separate incidents in Haryana

New Delhi/Pataudi: Twelve people including
six railway employees were on Tuesday run over by trains in two
separate accidents in Haryana.
The day began on a tragic note when six persons came
under the speeding Ajmer-bound Shatabdi Express near Pataudi
station at 7.30 am while crossing the rail tracks, triggering
protests by locals who surrounded the train demanding
compensation.
Four persons were injured in the mishap.
In less than 12 hours, a similar incident stuck six
gangmen returning from duty when they were run over by an EMU
between Asaoti and Ballabgarh at 6.20 pm, about 40 km from
Delhi.
Railways have announced Rs one lakh to the next kin of
each of the gangman killed in the second incident and said any
balance amount under the Workmen's Compensation Act shall be
given in due course.
Besides, a job will be provided to the immediate family
member, sources in Northern Railway said.

Northern Railway would conduct a high-level departmental
enquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident, a Northern
Railway spokesperson said.
