New Delhi: The family of an Uttarakhand based engineer, missing for the past 75 days, today demanded a CBI probe, alleging that he was abducted by officials of the state PWD as he "unearthed corruption" involving them.

Anand Prakash, an assistant engineer with Public Works Department posted in Uttarkashi for the past three years, is missing since August 19. His family claims he was abducted from his house in the "most planned and calculated manner" by three PWD officials in connivance with contractors as he "unearthed corruption" in a Rs 4.5 crore project.

"High level political influence could be the driving force behind the abduction of my husband. We demand a CBI probe into the missing case as we are not satisfied with the investigations by the state police," Deeparchana, the engineer's wife, told reporters here.

"Hours before he was abducted, he spoke to me and told me that he feared for his life," she said holding her seven- month-old daughter Kavya.

According to Deeparchana, a computer operator with the state government posted in Nainital, her husband's leave was sanctioned from August 20 to come to Delhi but he went missing on the intervening night.

The state CB-CID is investigating the case for the past 45 days and had recently announced reward of Rs 20,000 for those providing information on Prakash.
