New Delhi: In an effort to monitor and
improve the functioning of various ministries, the Prime
Minister's Office (PMO) will undertake an evaluation of their
performance and bring out "result framework documents".
A series of six workshops for a cluster of ministries
would be organised and the first one on Agriculture and Rural
Development would be held for two days from tomorrow.
Senior officials from the ministries and other
departments would attend the brain-storming session.
The other workshops would cover Human Research
Development and Health, Resource Management covering Power,
Petroleum and Energy, Trade, Industry and Services,
Infrastructure and Social Sector, PMO sources said.
The Ministries would submit their reports to the
Cabinet Secretary by this month-end and a mid-term review
would be undertaken of the ministries after which an ad hoc
task force comprising leading experts would be constituted by
the Cabinet Secretary to review the performance.

"The Prime Minister has approved the preparation of
Result Framework Documents for all departments of the
government as part of the comprehensive Performance Monitoring
and Evaluation System (PMES)," an official release said.
Initially, 59 departments would be preparing result
framework documents and this would be extended to cover in
phases all other departments, it said.
