Mumbai FC stun Bagan in I-League

Barasat: A horrendous performance from Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Shilton Paul enabled Mumbai FC record their
first I-League win, beating the last year's runners-up 2-1 in
a sixth round floodlit encounter at Vidyasagar Krirangan here
today.
Mumbai FC scored in the first minute through Abhishek
Yadav, and then agains found the net in the 41st minute
through Bashiree Mohammed Abbas.
Bagan reduced the margin in the 60th minute through
Snehashish Chakraborty.
The day started on a sad note for Bagan as their main
custodian Sangram Mukherjee was ruled out for the match after
he met with an unfortunate accident in the morning.
Sangram slipped in the bathroom and fractured fractured
his right foot that forced coach Karim Bencherifa to field in
Shilton.
On a day when Shilton blundered, the Mumbai side
goalkeeper A C Nithinalal came up with good saves, helping the
visitors collect three full points.
Nithinlal was later adjudged man-of-the-match for his
sterling display under the bar.
A sloppy display from Shilton saw the Mumbai outfit
take an easy 1-0 lead just after the kick-off.
A cross from the right was easily capitalised by Mumbai's
Abhishek who headed the ball but a sloppy Shilton glovework
saw the ball enter into the net before Bagan could settle into
their feet.
