Police claim to have shot at several Maoists in Jharkhand

Hazaribagh: The police on Sunday
claimed to have inflicted heavy casualties on the Maoists
during a five-hour fierce encounter in the dense forests of
Sarwaha in Hazaribagh district last night.
The security forces hurled several mortars and grenades
and heard cries from the Maoists, confirming heavy casualties,
Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Kamboj, told newsmen here.
The security forces are tracking blood stains to reach the
fleeing Maoists, he said.
The Maoists firing squad led by the Bihar-Jharkhand
Special Committee, Kishenji alias Analji and the outfits
self-styled zonal commander Navin Manjhi had been holding a
meeting in the forest under Chari police station when the
security forces raided the place, the SP said.

On seeing the police, the Maoists opened indiscriminate
firing, triggering the encounter, in which 850 bullets were
also traded between the two sides, he added.
About 50 live cartridges, explosives and Naxal literature
were found from the place of encounter.
