Over 100 officials from different ministries in CVC net

New Delhi: The Central Vigilance Commission has advised initiation of penalty proceedings against 106 government officials, including 21 each from Railways Ministry and Public Sector Banks, for alleged irregularities.

There are 13 officials from Municipal Corporation of Delhi, eight from Central Public Works Department, five from Central Coalfields Ltd and four each from Central Board of Excise and Customs, Ministry of Home Affairs and Urban Development Ministry among others against whom the Commission advised penalty proceedings, the CVC said in its performance report of August.

The anti-corruption watchdog also advised imposition of major penalty against 68 officers including 14 from National Aluminium Company Ltd, 12 each from Central Coalfields Ltd and Public Sector Banks, six from Ministry of Railways and five each from National Insurance Company Ltd and Delhi Development Authority.

The Commission disposed off 648 complaints sent to it for necessary actions and 91 others given to it for investigation and report.

The Chief Technical Examiner's Organisation under the CVC effected recoveries to the tune of Rs 19 lakh after conducting technical examinations of some departments.

In one case, pertaining to Prasar Bharti, the Commission ordered for direct inquiry, it said.

The Commission recommended launching of prosecution against eight officials including two from Ministry of Personnel, PG and pensions and one each from Indian Overseas Bank, Department of Telecommunication, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, CBDT and Labour Ministry.

The competitive administrative authorities issued sanctions for prosecution against 20 officers coming under CVC jurisdiction. It included 16 from CBEC and one each from Ministry of Home Affairs, CBDT, Urban Development Ministry and Textiles Ministry, the report said.

Major penalties were imposed on 77 officers including a highest of 10 from Food Corporation of India, nine from Railways Ministry, eight from New India Insurance Company Ltd and seven each from Public Sector Banks and Oriental Insurance Company Ltd among others.

On the basis of advice tendered by the Commission, stiff major penalty has been imposed on one officer each from Oriental Insurance Company Ltd and State Bank of India.

While five senior officials - one each from Railways Ministry, Delhi Development Authority, Ministry of Mines, BHEL and Department of Heavy Industries - of the joint secretary and above level were punished during the month, the report said.

The CVC has advised major penalty proceedings in 884 cases and has sanctioned prosecution in 141 cases besides making recoveries of Rs 29.15 crore on account of CTE's investigations upto August this year.

the above article is simply eyewash. Nothing will happen to any of the officials. everyone knowes that in our system corruption percolates from the top. But CVC, CBI etc. harassing junior officials knowing fully well that they have to obey their bosses otherwise face the music. -xyz - nagpur a
