Raipur: A CRPF jawan, posted in Bastar, has has allegedly shot himself dead, police said.

The jawan identified as Charanlal Netam belonged to 80th Battalion of the CRPF, Police Superintendent of Bastar Sundaraj P said.

Netam shot himself late last night when he was at old rest house at the regional headquarters here, he said.

Netam was rushed to Maharani hospital where he breathed his last.

A letter has been recovered from Netam. However, police said, it does not give any reason behind the jawan taking the extreme step.

Police have registered a case and are investigating further.
