Kannur: CPI(M) Central Committee member E P Jayarajan on Tuesday alleged that Congress leaders in the state are trying to scuttle bypoll to Kannur Assembly constituency by resorting to 'intimidatory' tactics on the Election Commission.

Recent outbursts by Union Minister Vayalar Ravi and local Congress MP K Sudhakaran accusing the district election officials of "biased" attitude on the voters list in Kannur district was instance of intimidating election officials by misusing official position, he told a press conference here.

Stating that the CPI(M) had not filed complaints on the fresh voters list, he said a final decision on the issue should come from election officials and the political parties should keep away from obstructing them.

"If at all there is any anomalies in the voters list, the issue could be resolved before next elections," he maintained, asserting that his party had not enrolled any "bogus voters" ahead of the November seven bypoll.
